Un amour de Swann was first published as part of Du côté de chez Swann by Grasset in 1913. The authoritative scholarly edition of Proust’s complete novel is the second ‘Pléiade’ text, edited by Jean-Yves Tadié: A la recherche du temps perdu, 4 vols, ‘Bibliothèque de la Pléiade’ (Paris: Gallimard, 1987–9). Un amour de Swann is found in the first volume, pp. 185–375. The text of the Pléiade edition, without the notes and critical apparatus, is available in a single, hefty paperback: A la recherche du temps perdu, edited by Jean-Yves Tadié, ‘Collection Quarto’ (Paris: Gallimard, 1999). Du côté de chez Swann and Un amour de Swann are available in many paperback editions in French: for the latter, published with notes and a ‘dossier’ of critical material, see Un amour de Swann, edited and annotated by Mireille Naturel (Paris: Flammarion, 2002).
